Petty a fan of road racing

As the Winston Cup circuit prepares for it's second yearly foray on a permanent road course -- Sunday's Sirius Satellite Radio at The Glen, at Watkins Glen, N.Y. -- it's a given that after the race, some driver who performs poorly will criticize NASCAR's decision to keep road courses on the schedule.

Invariably, the criticism heard against road courses is that they are so much unlike the more conventional ovals, tri-ovals and superspeedways on which NASCAR runs its 34 other races. Others ...
