Kirkland earns starting nod for Eagles

Although both players will log extensive action in Sunday's season opener, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid announced Wednesday morning 10-year pro Levon Kirkland has won the starting job at middle linebacker over Barry Gardner.

"They both did a heck of a job (in camp)," Reid said. "But you have to start one of them and that is going to be Levon. I am not going to slight either one of them. They are both going to play."
