Players want passion, atmosphere

In picking the five best baseball cities, I take into consideration three things -- the fans' knowledge of the game, the atmosphere at the ballpark and the team's history.

I can't test the fans' IQ when they enter the stadium, but you can tell how much they know about baseball by how they react in certain situations. You can sense the respect for the game and their love for the team, making for a special environment.

But the true test of a great baseball city doesn't come in either ...
