Not all memories are about the games themselves

The first year I coached in the Red River Shootout was 1985 as the offensive coordinator for Barry Switzer.

I was in the dressing room prior to the game and I couldn't figure out why so many former Oklahoma players were coming in and out. I thought maybe they were coming to see old friends or coaches but they were looking for assistant coach Charley North, who was off to the side with a big piece of cardboard and some string.

Turns out the cardboard was the same color as the sideline ...
