Kvasha's left ankle hit by slapshot by Hedican

UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- New York Islanders forward Oleg Kvasha will be out at least two weeks because of a broken ankle.

Kvasha was injured late in the second period of Tuesday night's 4-1 loss to Carolina when he was hit in the left ankle by a slap shot taken by Hurricanes defenseman Bret Hedican. He didn't return to the game.

The 24-year-old left wing failed to record a point in the Islanders' first six games.
