Pizzazz, with a compact plan, did it for New York

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- New York flaunted its charm with compelling story lines, star-studded testimonials and a dazzling video presentation.

But beyond all the pizzaz, simplicity helped push New York past San Francisco as the U.S. candidate to host the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Using a plan that puts all but one venue inside the city limits and a transportation system that will limit congestion in the nation's busiest city, New York beat San Francisco 132-91 in a weighted vote ...
