Niners disappointed with offensive blunders

Even after holding the league's most explosive offense in check, Steve Mariucci dwelled on his team's inability to finish off drives.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Against the league's highest scoring team, the Kansas City Chiefs, 49ers coach Steve Mariucci had a plan. The plan was simple. The best defense against the Chiefs was a good offensive effort by the 49ers.

"Part of the offensive plan was to keep them near the Gatorade," Mariucci said. Unfortunately, one mental blunder almost had the entire 49ers sideline drinking poison. Possession is one thing, but possession without scoring could be dangerous.
