MVP debate: Should A-Rod have won?
When the American League announced its MVP Award winner today, we didn't hear the name of the "best player" called. Yes, Alex Rodriguez was the first player since Cecil Fielder in 1991 to lead the majors in home runs and RBIs. But his Texas Rangers finished 18 games under .500, and only four players have won the MVP on a team with a losing record: Ernie Banks (twice), Andre Dawson and Cal Ripken (who, interestingly enough, beat out Fielder).
