Sweeney plays his 1,000th game, all with the Bruins

BOSTON -- Boston defenseman Don Sweeney played in his 1,000th career game Thursday night when the Bruins beat the New York Islanders 4-1.

Sweeney, who was in the starting lineup, is just the fourth player in club history to reach the mark with all of his games in a Boston uniform. Ray Bourque (1,518), John Bucyk (1,436) and Wayne Cashman (1,027) are the others.
