Johnson victorious in same ring he lost title bid

LAS VEGAS -- Kirk Johnson made a successful return in the same ring where he lost his bid for a heavyweight title in July.

The Canadian knocked down an outclassed Jeremy Bates in the first round, then stopped him on a delayed knockout in the second round when Bates suddenly went down after the bell.

Johnson, a bit flabby around the waist at 243 pounds, had no trouble with Bates, who dressed better than he fought.
