W. New Mexico coach singles out black players

SILVER CITY, N.M. -- The basketball coach at Western New Mexico used racial epithets while dressing down black players on Martin Luther King Day, one of the players said Friday.

Guard David Harris said coach Joe Mondragon told the black players they were ''acting like a bunch of n------'' following an 11-point loss at Adams State in Alamosa, Colo., on Monday night.

Harris said he quit the team Thursday.

''I told him him that if he's still the coach, I wasn't playing,'' ...
