Bourdais set for instant success in CART

SEBRING, Fla. -- There are no guarantees in auto racing, certainly not in the political playground of Formula One. But, if anybody seemed to be ticketed for a slot in F1 it was Sebastien Bourdais.

The 23-year-old Frenchman captured the 2002 FIA F3000 championship in much the same style as Juan Pablo Montoya in 1998. Three wins, seven poles and blinding speed was his calling card.

He also had victories in the high horsepower sports cars of Europe that compete at Le Mans and Spa.
