Carmelo Anthony usually hears from buddy LeBron James via two-way pager after Syracuse has played on TV. So his pager will likely blow up on Selection Sunday, when the frosh forward finds out where he'll be heading for his first Tourney. King James will owe Melo major props -- because this month, No. 15 gets to own the spotlight.

It's exactly where he belongs. While leading a young SU squad into the Top 20, Melo is scoring (22.2 ppg) from everywhere on the floor. A muscular 6'8", 220, he starts most games by lighting it up from the outside, then backs people down in the post when he's overplayed. Prime example: At Michigan State on Feb. 23, he shot 4-for-4 from the three-point line in the first half, then hit the blocks in crunch time, finishing with 25 points in a 76-75 win. "He's impossible to guard," says Orange assistant Mike Hopkins.
