Sealing the Draft

A new rule nobody wants to talk about could keep teenagers out of the NBA.

All signs point to a deal between commissioner David Stern and Players Association executive director Billy Hunter to create a 20-year-old age limit for the 2004 draft. Despite denials, a deal could be struck in May when both sides begin talks on extending the collective bargaining agreement.

The timing couldn't be more ironic. With KG, Kobe and T-Mac battling for the MVP award, drafting teenagers looks smarter than ever. But Stern's been pushing to turn the clock back ever since KG rushed from his high school prom straight to the pros. Now it looks like the commish is going to succeed.
