Cleeland could replace Conwell at tight end

The Rams filled a couple of offensive holes Friday by reaching a three-year, $2.95 million contract with center/guard Andy McCollum and a one-year deal for the NFL minimum salary with Patriots tight end Cam Cleeland.

The timing of Cleeland's signing is interesting because starting tight end Ernie Conwell is supposed to get a contract offer Friday from the Carolina Panthers. Rams coach Mike Martz has been frustrated with the slow negotiations for Conwell, whom he said would return to St. ...
