Garzelli rebounds from 11-month suspension
TERME LUIGIANE, Italy -- Italy's Stefano Garzelli won the third stage of the Giro d'Italia on Monday, a big victory for a cyclist returning from an 11-month drug suspension.
He rallied in the last 500 yards and finished two seconds ahead of Italians Francesco Casagrande and Alessandro Petacchi. Petacchi is the overall leader.
Garzelli had to abandon last year's Giro after testing positive for a banned diuretic. He was later suspended for 11 months and returned in April.
