  • Mike Klis of the Denver Post takes a look at the growing fraternity of older managers in baseball. Jack McKeon recently joined Felipe Alou and Frank Robinson in the past-retirement-age bracket while Joe Torre and Bobby Cox are past 60 and Lou Piniella and Jimy Williams are nearing it.

  • Are there worse players than Brant Brown in the major leagues, as Mike Downey suggests in today's Chicago Tribune? Probably. But Brown finds himself in the Northern League at the age of 31, trying to catch somebody's notice and get back to the bigs after a three-year absence.

  • What is the New England man and woman on the street's take on Roger Clemens? With Clemens in town with the Yankees and 300 victories a couple of good outings away, Michael O'Connor of the Boston Herald took the pulse of regular folk on the subject of the former Red Sox ace. Like many larger-than-life figures, Clemens has a way of polarizing opinions.
