Denver Broncos: With the cap space cleared from the release of QB Brian Griese, the team might secure veteran S Lee Flowers. The Broncos brought Flowers in for a workout two weeks ago and are definitely interested. According to the Denver Post, a deal could be worked out early this week.

Cleveland Browns: QBs Tim Couch and Kelly Holcomb have competed through nine quarterback school practices, but coach Butch Davis isn't shedding any light on which player has the inside track on starting in 2003. "It's going good," Davis told the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "It's not something you go out and discuss and talk about [each day]. Guys take reps and opportunities, and go out and execute and perform." Not only is Davis keeping the media in the dark, he's doing the same with his players. Davis has kept everyone on the team guessing by mixing first-teamers with second- and third-teamers.

Jacksonville Jaguars: It seems like the Jags have been trying to rid themselves of WR Jay R. Sowards forever, but the long wait is about to be over. The Jaguars can release Soward as soon as today. VP of player personnel James Harris indicated that cutting the former first-round pick is a foregone conclusion. "I wouldn't anticipate us having R. Jay Soward back," Harris told the Florida Times-Union. Soward, the 29th overall pick in 2000, hasn't been in a Jaguars uniform since the 2001 preseason because of repeated violations of the NFL's drug policy.
