In Marty Brennaman's first two years as a broadcaster with the Cincinnati Reds, he identified himself as a part of the team. A conversation during the 1976 season with pitcher Jack Billingham changed that perspective and served as a pivotal point in his career.
"I said to him 'We had a great win yesterday,' '' Brennaman said. "He said 'How many hits did you have? What is this we business?' He was 100 percent correct. For me to say we was completely wrong.''
