Rockies send unhappy Kapler to Triple-A

DENVER --The Colorado Rockies, facing a play-me-or-release-me demand from veteran outfielder Greg Vaughn, promoted him from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Tuesday night and optioned outfielder Gabe Kapler to Triple-A.

Vaughn, one of only 31 players to hit 50 or more homers in a season, signed a minor-league contract with the Rockies on April 9. He was released in March by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, who are paying his $9.25 million salary this season.
