Iron Deputy wins Belmont's Brooklyn

NEW YORK -- Iron Deputy led from start to finish and easily won the Grade II $250,000 Brooklyn Handicap at Belmont Park by 2 1/2 lengths Saturday. Iron Deputy, carrying 114 pounds and Richard Migliore, covered 1 1-8 miles on the sloppy surface in 1:47 4-5 to earn $150,000 for Susan and John Moore. The win was the fifth in eight career starts for the 4-year-old colt by Silver Deputy who was sidelined for nearly nine months after stumbling and falling in last year's Jim Dandy stakes at Saratoga. ...
