New York Knicks: Under a set of complicated collective-bargaining agreement rules, the Knicks could have to use a portion of their mid-level exception to help draft pick Maciej Lampe out of his contract with Real Madrid in order to sign him. The N.Y. Post explains that New York could lose up to $900,000 in the buyout deal, meaning it would have only $4 million to offer either Rasho Nesterovic or P.J. Brown, the two players they are targeting in the free agent market.

Miami Heat: Miami fans might not have loved Travis Best or Mike James, or even Eddie House, at point guard. But it looks like they're going to be left with the likes of Scoonie Penn, Marcus Hatten, small forward Caron Butler or rookie Dwyane Wade running the offense this year. "What we envision is the two of them basically sharing the ball-handling duties, both being able to play both spots," assistant head coach Stan Van Gundy told the Miami Herald, speaking of Butler and Wade. "And from what I saw today, with both of their abilities to make plays, I think that will work very, very well."
