Veteran defenseman signs one-year deal

Dallas Stars: Longtime Boston Bruin Don Sweeney signed a one-year deal Monday with the Stars, who were in need of a defenseman after losing captain Derian Hatcher in free agency.

Sweeney had played his entire 15-year NHL career with the Bruins, breaking during the 1988-89 season. He has 52 goals, 210 assists in 1,052 career games. He also has played more than 100 postseason games.
