New York Jets: Although QB Vinny Testaverde is sitting on 39,558 career passing yards, the chances of him reaching the 40,000-yard milestone are slim because he is a backup. But coach Herm Edwards has taken an interest in Testaverde's quest to throw for at least 442 more yards and said he'll do what he can to help. "I've already discussed it with Chad," Edwards told the New York Times. "He knows. I'd like to get it for Vinny. How many guys in history have done that?" Eight. In the history of pro football, only eight quarterbacks have thrown for at least 40,000 yards, led by Dan Marino with 61,361. "It's going to be fun to let him play a little," coach Steve Mariucci told the Detroit News. "We've got to figure out when we put him in, with whom. I'd like him to play a little bit this week. He's getting ready to go. He's getting mentally ready to go. He's realizing he can play the game with that splint on his hand." Rogers has been favorably compared to WR Randy Moss, and is expected to give the Lions the legitimate deep threat they've lacked.
