The first visit to the 1.058-mile New Hampshire International Speedway saw fuel milage be the key factor in Jimmie Johnson's trip to victory lane. It was also a factor in a poor finish for Jeff Gordon, who led the most laps and looked to be the car to beat. After stopping for fuel and tires with 65 laps remaining, Gordon could move up no further than 24th.
