Alabama State coach misses game with chest pains

Alabama State: Coach Charlie Coe was hospitalized with chest pains and missed the team's game with Prairie View A&M.

Defensive coordinator Tony Pierce directed the Hornets to a 59-7 win Saturday night while Coe listened on the radio at Jackson Hospital.

Coe, 54, said he went to the hospital after experiencing chest pains Friday afternoon and didn't know when he would return to the team. He was listed in guarded condition Sunday, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
