A's pass on $1.8 million option
Oakland A's: Outfielder Chris Singleton was released Tuesday when the A's declined to exercise its $1.8 million option for 2004.
Oakland paid a $200,000 buyout to release Singleton, who batted a career-low .245 with one homer and 36 RBIs in his first season with the A's. He signed with Oakland as a free agent in December, making $1.4 million.
Singleton was one of six outfielders on Oakland's major league
roster for most of the season, and he struggled to get playing
