Sure, the Western Athletic Conference tore a hole from the Sun Belt Conference when it took Utah State and New Mexico State. But the Sun Belt still has a brass buckle in North Texas, which took a major step toward its third straight league title with its win at Middle Tennessee last weekend. The three Sun Belt games the Mean Green has left are against teams with three conference wins among them (Louisiana-Monroe, Arkansas State and New Mexico State).

The race now appears to be for second place, and to solidify conference affiliation.

The recruiting pamphlets should have read "Become an Arkansas State Indian and see America!"
