Roberto Alomar, Guillen file
NEW YORK -- Roberto Alomar and Jose Guillen, whose careers are headed in opposite directions, topped the list of major league players who filed for free agency Thursday.
Twenty-six players filed, bringing the total to 175 since the period began September 26.
Alomar finished last season with the Chicago White Sox, who ended his miserable stint with the New York Mets with a midseason trade. The 35-year-old switch-hitter batted a combined .258 with five home runs and 39 RBI in 140 games.
