Boston's Jimy Williams named AL Manager of the Year

NEW YORK (Ticker) -- A solid second-place finish made Jimy Williams of the Boston Red Sox first in the voting For American League Manager of the Year.

Despite losing a premier slugger and playing most of the season without a genuine closer, the Red Sox won 94 games and captured the wild card. Williams was rewarded for his efforts today, becoming the first Boston skipper to be honored as Manager of the Year since John McNamara in 1986.
