Cottrell joins Tice's staff with Vikings

Fired by the New York Jets nearly two weeks ago, longtime NFL assistant Ted Cottrell quickly landed on his feet as Minnesota Vikings coach Mike Tice's new defensive coordinator.

Cottrell, 56, gets a two-year contract to replace George O'Leary, who left the Vikings to become head coach at Central Florida.
