$8.5 million facility debuts in New York
NEW YORK -- Former Olympians Al Oerter, Bob Beamon and Frank Shorter were among several stars who helped dedicate the opening of the new national track and field Hall of Fame at the Armory on Saturday.
Oerter, Beamon and Shorter each won gold at the Olympics and are Hall of Famers. Their sport now has a permanent home after short stints in Charleston, W.Va., and Indianapolis.
