Shelby, de Ferran also honored

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Indianapolis 500 winners and Texas natives Johnny Rutherford and A.J. Foyt became the first inductees into the Texas Motorsports Hall of Fame on Tuesday night.

The Hall of Fame, which is being built at Texas Motor Speedway, honors outstanding individuals in Texas motorsports, and others with accomplishments in Texas.

Rutherford, of Fort Worth, won the Indy 500 three times and was the CART champion in 1980. Rutherford, who now works with the Indy Racing League, ...
