In 2000, Rulon Gardner of tiny Afton, Wyo., pulled off one of the greatest upsets in Olympic history when he defeated previously unbeaten and three-time reigning gold medalist Aleksandr Karelin of Russia for the gold medal in Greco-Roman wrestling.
