Detroit Red Wings: Detroit's young stars in training stepped up in Game 5 when the Red Wings needed them most. Pavel Datsyuk had two assists and Henrik Zetterberg had a goal and an assist in Detroit's 4-1 victory over the Nashville Predators.

Montreal Canadiens: Facing elimination, Montreal goaltender showed why he won the Hart Trophy two years ago. Theodore came up with his best game of the first-round series Thursday night, stopping 43 of 44 shots to lead Montreal to a 5-1 victory over the Bruins to cut Boston's series lead to 3-2.

San Jose Sharks: Mark Smith's goal midway through the second period was a clear indication that events were unfolding in San Jose's favor. Smith, who had been a healthy scratch in 31 games this season, scored to mark a big night for linemates Todd Harvey and Marcel Goc, who was making his NHL debut.
