Top seed falls in first-round at Vienna

VIENNA, Austria -- Top-seeded Chanda Rubin lost in the first round of the Vienna Grand Prix on Wednesday, beaten in her return to the WTA Tour by Russian qualifier Alina Jidkova 6-7 (2), 7-6 (3), 4-6.

This was the American's first match since injuring her left knee at the Pan Pacific Open in February in Tokyo. Jidkova, ranked No. 84, was playing her fifth match of the tournament.
