Texans have shot at .500, not playoffs

With nine victories in two years of existence, the Houston Texans are only slightly behind the learning curve, with the last five NFL expansion franchises having averaged 9.2 wins in their first two seasons. So while there is some criticism in these parts over what avid fans regard as a lengthy gestation period, things aren't nearly as desperate as some locals contend.

But this is a season in which the Texans, who have been incredibly diligent in adhering to the blueprint drawn up by general manager Charley Casserly, should make a considerable leap forward.
