There's a difference between the Boston Red Sox this year and the Red Sox of a year ago. That difference means the curse could be reversed this year.

Last year, as Boston fans know too well, the Red Sox came within five outs of getting to the World Series before falling to the New York Yankees in Game 7 of the ALCS.

In that Game 7, it took 11 innings to determine whether the Yankees or Red Sox would represent the American League in the World Series. Lots of franchises would have been content with what Boston accomplished. But not the Red Sox and GM Theo Epstein.
