Engel's Angles: Surprises in the Spotlight

How unpredictable fantasy football can be. If I would have told you before the season that Drew Brees would be outperforming Matt Hasselbeck, you would have told me to go become a fantasy pro wrestling analyst.

Yet here we are eight weeks into the 2004 campaign, and Brees is the prime example of players who were not regarded highly or at all in most drafts, only to come out of the depths and claim much respect and a place in your lineup. But can these fantasy "retreads" and surprises keep up their current pace? Well, as we have said before, don't believe in a sudden reversal of success until you see it. But for those of you who are insistent that these guys just haven't convinced you they are for real, here's why you should keep the faith.
