Maybank tears patella tendon

St. John's guard Jermaine Maybank tore his left patella tendon and will miss the 2004-05 season, the school announced on Friday.

The Bronx native injured himself during the team's annual Red-White scrimmage Thursday night. He will have surgery on Wednesday, according to the release.

"It is very disheartening to see Jermaine go down with this season-ending injury," Red Storm head coach Norm Roberts said in the release. "He is a tough competitor and we will help him get through this. ...
