Austrians win men's doubles
ALTENBERG, Germany -- Germany's Anke Wischnewski won the luge World Cup season opener in wind and snow Saturday for her first victory on the circuit.
Wischnewski finished her two heats in 1 minute, 50.009 seconds, beating world champion and countrywoman Silk Kraushaar (1:50.366) and Austria's Nina Reithmayer (1:50.813).
"I've really made big improvements in my start," Wischnewski said. "My goal is to be at the world championships."
