FFL Playoff Notebook: Pennington, Burleson show promise

Here are some observations from the Wild Card Round that should be taken into account for the 2005 FFL season: What do Shaun Alexander and Armando Benitez have in common?: Both players are fantasy behemoths who have proved they can't be trusted when it counts most for their real teams. When the Seahawks won the NFC West, Alexander complained about his stats. When Seattle needed Alexander the most, he was mediocre in a Wild Card Round loss to the Rams. Alexander had a wrist injury, yet he didn't run well before he was hurt and the problem didn't keep him out of action. What this means is that Seattle, which can't afford to keep Alexander, Walter Jones AND Matt Hasselbeck, could be even less inclined to keep its superstar RB. It is indeed possible Alexander could end up in another uniform next year after finishing in disappointing fashion. If he ends up behind a lesser offensive line, he might not be a top-three fantasy choice. Alexander would still be a top back elsewhere, but there's no doubt Jones and G Steve Hutchinson have helped his totals immensely.
