FFL Statbook: Conference Championship Game-by-Game
Defense still reigns supreme: The higher-rated defensive team won each of the four games in the Divisional Playoff round, and they've now won 27 of 32 games (84.4 percent) in that round through the Super Bowl from 2000-04. The better defensive team has won six of the last eight Conference Championship games, with the two upsets pulled off by Super Bowl XXXVI combatants New England and St. Louis.
Home-field advantage still matters: All four home teams won in the Divisional Playoffs, but this has carried little-to-no weight in the Conference Championships the past decade-plus. The home team has won just five -- exactly half -- of the past 10 games in this round and 13 of the last 24 (54.2 percent), after having won 62 of the first 91 Conference Championship games (68.1 percent). And with only No. 1 and 2 seeds remaining in the NFL playoffs, don't expect home-field advantage to guarantee anything this weekend.
