McClatchy declares progress for plan

PITTSBURGH -- A revenue-sharing plan to help small-market baseball franchises could be ready by spring, Pittsburgh Pirates owner Kevin McClatchy said.

"I think we're making progress," McClatchy said Monday. "We have to get something done."

McClatchy serves on a committee with a half-dozen other team owners, economists and others who have been looking into the economic problems of baseball teams in small markets.
