Rules: Tiebreaker Examples

This page will give you an idea how tiebreakers are used to determine playoff seeding.

Example 1 Two teams are tied for the last wild-card spot:    Team A (7-6), 960 points, defeated Team B during the season 88-60 and 92-91    Team B (7-6), 944 points, lost to Team A during the season 60-88 and 91-92

Tie-breaker 1 - Overall record Result: Tied

Tie-breaker 2 - Head-to-head record Result: Team A advances (Team A was 2-0 vs. Team B during the season)
