A daily glance inside the numbers from the world of sports:

Major League Baseball

• Four 200-game winners started in the majors Saturday: Greg Maddux, Randy Johnson, Jamie Moyer and David Wells, the second time this year that such a thing has happened (on May 24, Roger Clemens, Tom Glavine, Mike Mussina and Wells all started for their teams).

But Saturday's distinguished quartet of starting pitchers -- with 992 combined wins among them -- didn't live up to past accomplishments. Maddux, Johnson and Moyer all were charged with losses, while Wells, though not tagged with a loss, failed to hold a three-run lead in Boston's 4-3 loss to the Twins in Minneapolis.

Get a load of this: Saturday marked the 93rd time since 1900 that at least four members of the 200 Win Club started for their teams on the same day. But it was the first of those days in which the teams of the 200-win pitchers didn't come away with a single victory!
