Jones retires four months after signing with Panthers
Carolina Panthers: Tight end Freddie Jones retired Sunday, ending his eight-year career just four months after signing a free agent contract with the Panthers.
Jones spent five seasons in San Diego and three in Arizona and had 404 career catches. He wasn't exactly a fit with the Panthers, who use their tight ends primarily for blocking.
