The Ottawa Renegades of the Canadian Football League have canceled their Mardi Gras Madness promotion that encouraged women in the upper deck to collect beads from men, with the woman possessing the most beads winning $1,000. The promotion, which started this year, was criticized because some thought it encouraged women to collect beads in the same manner they do on Bourbon Street in New Orleans -- by exposing their breasts.
At halftime of the July 1 game, the first at which the promotion was featured, CFL commissioner Tom Wright said:
