ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- Baseball's winter meetings opened today with one member of the star-studded free agent crop of 2000 determining his immediate future. But it was not Ken Griffey Jr.

As general managers gathered near Disneyland for a few days of wheeling and dealing, the Toronto Blue Jays made news thousands of miles away at SkyDome, re-signing first baseman Carlos Delgado to a three-year deal worth a reported $36 million. ...
