Today, lifelike synthetic materials have largely replaced living rubber in spinnerbait skirts. These skirts "breath" and "pulse" in a lifelike manner and are available in a wider array of colors than rubber skirts.
Use a bright-colored skirt such as chartreuse or hot pink in muddy water.
In clear water, use a more realistic skirt color, such as smoke gray, clear flake or melon green.
In stained water, use a visible (but not hot) color, such as white or yellow.
